Create an Ad - Step 2: Edit (New)

Need to refine an ad that you have created using Create an Ad? Here's how you can tweak your AudioStack ad effortlessly in this workflow.

Updated over a week ago

In this step, you can Edit the ad you have created. There are a few things to highlight here.

Using Multiple Voices and Speech-to-Speech (Voice Changing) in your Ad

When you first open the Edit step, you will most likely have a single voice used throughout your ad. In the example below, you can see that the selected voice is called Wren:

To change the voice, simply click on Wren's name in the voice settings panel. You can preview how the selected voice will sound reading your script by clicking the play icon next to it.

Speech-to-Speech / Voice Changing

In some situations you might find that the AI voice does not pronounce something the way you would like, or that the style of the read isn't to your taste. In this case, you can record your own read of the script to show the synthetic voice how to read it (or upload a recording from someone else). Simply click on the Add Recording button and choose from the options available.

If you're recording the speech yourself, you may need to give AudioStack permission to access your microphone by selecting Allow from the options shown in your web browser.

In the Recording Booth, some settings can be configured to help you get the most out of your recording. For example, if you're recording in a noisy environment, you can turn on noise suppression. If you're working in a professional studio, these adjustments are not usually necessary - though you may need to select the correct Input Device (such as an audio interface or microphone).

Wherever you are working, AudioStack will remove all silence from your recording by default, to minimise awkward pauses in the speech. However, if you'd prefer to leave those in for dramatic effect, you can also adjust this here.

Once you're done recording or uploading your file, you'll see the selected take appear in the Voice Settings panel, and your file will automatically be transcribed.

You don't need to do anything else - when you click Generate, your uploaded recording will be applied to the selected voice to get the read just right.

Multi-Voice Ads

So far, we've worked with a single voice. But it's easy to add multiple voices to your ad. First, you'll need to separate your speech into multiple lines, to show where one voice ends and the next begins. You can do this by clicking anywhere in your script, and pressing the Return / Enter key.

Now you have multiple lines in your script, you can select the one you wish to change, and click on the Voice button in the Voice Settings panel to open up the library and choose a new voice.

There's no limit to how many voices you can use, so feel free to add as many as you like!

Editing the Timings of your Speech

There are two main ways you can influence the timing of speech - adding pauses, and changing the speed of the read.

Add a Pause

To add a pause, click where you would like the pause to be inserted, then click on the Pause button. You can set the duration of the pause in the Pause Settings menu on the right.

Change the Speed

To change the speed of some speech, click on the line you'd like to change (so that it is underlined), then adjust the slider in the Voice Settings menu on the right.

Currently, you can only change the speed for Text-to-Speech (so when there is no recording uploaded). If you want to make your recorded speech faster, you'll need to record a faster read - this results in better audio quality, so is the recommended approach.

Insert a Sound Effect

Similarly to adding a pause, when adding a sound effect, just click anywhere in the text, and then click on the SFX button. You'll be able to choose from a range of AI-generated sound effects included in the AudioStack library.

Looking for something specific? We're still building up our library of SFX and would love to hear from you if there's something we're missing. Get in touch at support (at) audiostack (dot) ai with your requests.

Configuring Ad Settings

Up until now, your ad has automatically been saved in the Projects area with a default name and Project name based on your username. At this point, you can give your session a name and choose which Project to save it in.

You can also change the length of your ad.

Fixed length ON means that your ad will always be the length that you have selected. This is perfect for radio, where you likely want a 30 or 15 second fixed length spot.

Fixed length OFF means that the length of the ad will be based on the script provided. This is better suited to usecases where the length of the ad is less critical - such as social campaigns.

Changing Sound Template

It's also possible to change your backing music from this step, by using the button to the top left of the script editor. If you don't have music applied yet, you'll see an option to choose from the library. If you already have music from the last step, you can always remove this and choose something else if needed.

Generating your Ad

Once you've made some edits to your ad, hit the blue Generate button to hear your changes. Don't worry if the timings need some more precise adjustments - once you're finished Editing, you can continue to the Pro Editor to edit these details on a timeline if needed.
